I agree – strongly.
The Problem is that System Event's AppleScript dictionary in this case is misleading or wrong:
make
new type : The class of the new object.
[at location specifier] : The location at which to insert the object.
It doesn't seem to recognise any location as an acceptable "location reference".
I'm more and more frustrated by the reliance of AppleScript on obscure "incantations".
