Welcome aboard!
There are good resources available for AppleScripting Excel, just google
that.
By itself, AppleScript does not do regular expressions. But you can use the
"do shell script" command to invoke regular expressions from within an
appleScript.
There are also several programs available that provide an appleScript Reg Ex
component including: BB Edit; Smile; Text Commands. There may be others as
well.
Of course if you hit any roadblocks this list is also a good resource.
