I have been off Applescript lists for many months. I see that posts on the AppleScript-Implementors list from a while back discussed what seems to me to be the same issue, so perhaps the original bug came from there.
However, for anyone who still hasn't visited <https://bugreport.apple.com/> to file a duplicate bug for this issue, I would urge you to do so because it helps to up the priority level.
