Thanks Chris, for all the info.
I downloaded the Script Debugger demo and like it a lot. However, I've been unemployed since 2007 (you wouldn't happen to know anyone who needs a Cobol mainframe programmer? --joking) so $200 isn't do-able right now.
I'll look into Satimage osax -- I've been using TextCommands for most text stuff.

You can also pick up a version of SMILE that will run on Tiger.
I consider SMILE and the Satimage.osax must-have for anyone who writes much Applescript. I don't develop with SMILE (I use Script Debugger), but I do a fair amount of testing with SMILE - particularly speed-texting.
