We use VBScript in Windows for the list of hostnames. We will list the hostnames in the textfile in the same folder of script and run the VBScript. The output will be in Excel with status as "offline" or "Online"
I am not sure this can be done on Mac.
I think it can on a Mac using AppleScript.
As I understand it:
You have a folder containing a text file with hostnames, the appleScript and a result file.
The script will read the text file, ping each hostname, and save the hostname and ping to a DSV file, which is then opened/updated in Excel?
Best place to start is with the text file containing the host names.
What does that data look like?
