Hi all,
In a previous mail, I asked about my inability to set locations of items
in the front window.
One kind soul told me about a possible bad installation of Snow Leopard.
After a while, I've made a backup of the data of the hard disk, a low
level format (write 0s on the hard disk) and make a clean install.
Now I do not (seems to) have troubles anymore (ones that I had
previously), but I still have troubles with AppleScript.
One of the main trouble is the inability to have the position really
set: I have to close the front window, open it back and eventually see a
change...
On the same way, the background window does not appears on screen unless
I close and re-open the front window _OR_ run the script twice...
At last, the next line is simply ignored:
update target of front window with necessity
BTW: it is ironically to read the first (update) and last word
(necessity) of the command line and see nothing on screen! No reaction!
Am I the only one to have trouble to place icons on Finder windows using
my own shema ?
[set multiple position(s)...]
I am a bit disappointed.
Emile
PS: Because I had troubles during all Tiger‘s usage during my PowerBook
G4 life, I was reluctant to install a new OS (Snow Leopard (SL) "on
Leopard"), I installed it on an external hard disk. While I was
enthousiastic about SL boot end off time, some other features, I wasn't
happy at all on many other features. I decided to not install it until
some weeks ago (I could not wait the .3 update).
I have tons of GB of data on archivage hold (burn on DVDs), but I still
can’t do that (since the early days of Tiger, I do not want to burn
archives on CD/DVD, go figure how many billions of files that are
awaiting for retirement on a good 12" disc)...
Fortunately, I did not hold my breath until I will be able to make
archives...
