I was under the impression that Folder Actions were changed to be based on
FSEvents in 10.5, so I always wondered why they seemed less reliable.
Nevertheless, what you suggest is a good way to go. There's at least one
open source project to put a Cocoa wrapper around FSEvents, so adding it to
an AppleScriptObjC app is another possibility.
