I don't believe there was an attempt to name "programmer-zero".
Back in the day, many people complained *on this list* about the lack of a
way to return to the top of a repeat loop in AS without lots of nesting. I
believe Ray was the first person to post *on this list* what I believe he
came up with himself, and lots of people expressed gratitude.
At the time, I dare say we didn't all realise that we weren't worth our salt
as programmers for not developing the technique independently, or that
"repeat 1 times" was ugly as sin, or even that there was some concept of
purity involved -- we were just grateful to have what seemed like a simple
solution. As was the custom of the list at the time, when the technique was
reposted, people credited the original source.
Nothing absurd or grandiose -- just plain manners.
