Applescript Trivia: Black & White Pinwheel?

This may seem like a stupid question, but…

Can anybody tell me why Applescript's "hold-on-I'm-doing-something behavior" is the vintage OS 9 Black & White pinwheel rather than the default colored one in OS X?
