'version' Deprecated

  • Subject: 'version' Deprecated

The System Events property 'version' is now deprecated. Here's why ...

The document "Information Property List Key Reference", dated 14 June 2010 (click here), deprecates the Info.plist key 'CFBundleGetInfoString'. You can, therefore, expect this key to disappear from an application bundle's Info.plist file. It's used by Leopard, but not by Snow Leopard, in the Get Info window.

The System Events 'version' property reads the value of the key CFBundleGetInfoString.
Hence, it's also deprecated.

Use the System Events property 'short version', instead, which reads the key CFBundleShortVersionString.
