This suggests to me that using the GUI Scripting 'perform action' command might work -- 'perform action "AXPress"', I think it would be. You could try that in UI Browser by selecting the offending link in the main browser view, then opening the Actions drawer, selecting the press action, and clicking the Perform button. If that works in UI Browser, it should work in a script. Performing an Accessibility action is supposed to work exactly the same way a manual click works, and the website should respond accordingly.

from UI Browser, when navigating to this link, this is what shows up in the Path to Element box:

application "Safari.app"
standard window "Portfolio Positions: Fidelity Investments" (1)
group 3
scroll area 1
HTML content 1
link "Format for printing in new window" (2)

In the Actions drawer, there are two items: 1) press and 2) show menu

• selecting press and clicking the perform button does nothing
• selecting show menu and clicking the perform causes a contextual menu to drop down

BTW, selecting the "Open Link in New Window" from the contextual menu that pops up when I perform the "show menu" action opens the exact same page in a new window -- not the page formatted for print that I get if I actually click on the item in the Safari page.

So far, the only way I've been able to open this page, since the weekend, is to manually click it. Guess I'm s-o-l for this feature unless I can get Fidelity to change it back. Printing the page from the main Safari page isn't that different from printing it from the Safari page formatted for print, only an increase of some 25% and some extra garbage.

Thanks for all your insight and help.

Jim
