FileMaker can read and write to SQLite databases (i.e. database event
databases) by using ODBC.
You will need an ODBC plug-in from Actual Technologies to get them to talk
to eachother
http://www.actualtech.com/product_opensourcedatabases.php
I have only used it for reading, which is done by "import records" (other
SQL dbs can be used as live data sources, but SQLite is just a file). It is
very fast.
As for writing I presume you use the "perform SQL" script step in FileMaker.
As that too is done through ODBC I would assume it is quite fast as well,
but as I said, I haven't tried that myself.
