In Snow Leopard Client, under the Date & Time Preference Window,

You have the choice of Digital or Analog Clock. But the clock ONLY

There are optional choices,
Display the time with seconds
Flash the time separators
Use a 24 24-hour clock
Show AM/PM
Show the day of the week
Show data
Announce the time
But there is no floating option anymore.
It's just the same in Leopard (OS 10.5). Plus the dashboard clock
that will
float and materialize anywhere.
The huge problem with the date_time in the menu bar is that, if we
want to display the full date
dimanche 11 juillet 21:22:33
or
21:22:33 dimanche 11 juillet
on a French machine,
we get an awful behaviour in Numbers and when I filed a report, I was
responded that it's the normal behaviour (oops, I was supposed to keep
that for me).
31/12/1943
becomes :
31 décembre 1943 vendredi 31 décembre 23:59:59
The only wayu to keep a 'clean' date is to enter it this way :
=DATE(1943;12;31)
which is a bit annoying.
But, if it's the normal behaviour …
If I remember well, the point of departure of this thread was a
question by somebody encountering the same oddity than the onbe wich I
described.
On my Leopard machine, my workaround is to use the clock borrowed from
10.4.
It display the time HH:MM (no seconds) and the date dimanche 11 juillet.
I asked a friend to write a small app diplaying only the date time :
dimanche 11 juillet 23:59:59
without any bell and whistle.
I hope that I will get it soon. The borrowed clock is too large for my
own taste.
