thanx, but that's not quite the same issue i'm having: my code works when called from a load script client in script editor, but as a stay- open app grinds to a halt as each loop thru the list of schedules calls eyetv.

apparently s.e. does a better job @ figuring out what to do w/ references (or perhaps derefs) to data eyetv sends back, while the droplet code running the stay-open gets into some kind of recursive trap...
