I was using Smile when I asked this question.

I have just confirmed that viewing the QuickTime Player (10.0) dictionary in AppleScript Editor shows the full list of properties for a document.

Smile shows only ...

elements
contained by application.
properties
name text, r/o : Its name.
modified boolean, r/o : Has it been modified since the last save?
file file, r/o : Its location on disk, if it has one.

In AppleScript Editor, responds to shows ...

close, print, save.

Is something wrong with Smile?

QuickTime Player 10.0 is using a full-on sdef for its dictionary; at a guess, Smile knows about sdefs but doesn't know about <class-extension> elements, which is how QuickTime Player is (correctly!) defining most of its document properties.
