Hm.
As far as I see,
Yvan gets (*9.998765432E+9*) (*2.147483647E+9*) on 10.4.1,
Yvan and Mark get (*9.998765432E+9*) (*1.40883084E+9*) on 10.6.3 (same with me), and
Michelle gets error "Can’t make 9.998765432E+9 into type integer." number -1700 from 9.998765432E+9 to integer on 10.6.3.
So it seems that Michelle has a somewhat special system. And by the way, I get the German equivalent of "Can’t make 9.998765432E+9 into type integer." with Smile. So, what's going on?

My earlier result was from Applescript Editor. From the command line, I still get the same thing:
$ osascript -e '9998765432 as integer'
1.40883084E+9
$ osascript -e '"9998765432" as real as integer'
1.40883084E+9
$
Wonder what's different between Michelle's and my systems?
Wonder what's different between Michelle's and mine ?
May be linked to the localized System and Editor ?
