Michelle thanks for your response.

I need to change its content.  or at least get its row and column address.
If I cant select it then how can I do anything with it?

I am trying to use applescript to select a cell in a Numbers table that contains a specific word.

No need to use UI scripting to find the cell.

tell application "Numbers"
tell document 1
tell sheet 1
tell table 1
cells whose value is --whatever
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell

However, I just reread your question; you don't want find the cell, but want to select it.  There's no "select" verb in Numbers scripting dictionary.  But do you really need to select it?  Or can you script what you want to do with that cell?
