Here's some: never post a question to four mailing lists at once. Pick the

In answer to your question, there's no way to force garbage collection in
AS, and it's doubtful whether doing so would solve your problem anyway. It
sounds like the problem is at Word's end, possibly because of the growing
number of complex undos. Try clearing the undos by saves or saves as.
