Use AppleScript Editor to save the script as an application.
Drag & Drop an single icon onto the application.
If it's an application icon, it will appear in the Dock.

Instead of using the Drag&Drop interface, you could use the handler in a script you write which uses some other interface, such as 'choose application'.
