Not sure why you're think this is wrong. I'm surprised the finder does this with extension name.
I am noyvusing the finder's extension name because undone know what it will return since I don't k is what that us supposed to return. Will it always return anything after the last period in the file name? I don't know.
The function I posted is working perfectly fir what I need it to do, and I know that it will continue to work well into the future.
And yes, I have much more confidence in Applescript's TIDs than in a random Finder call. TIDs have been around forever in Appleacript. Extension name is brad new by comparison.
