I have noticed in Snow Leopard, for some time, that when items are Dragged & Dropped onto an application bundle with an open handler, occasionally the application does not run at first when the mouse is released. Ghost icons appear over the application icons, but nothing happens until I click the application icon.
Only an inconvenience until today. Something strange and dangerous happened today.
I mounted a sparsebundle disk, then selected a folder from it which I dragged & dropped onto the application bundle I was testing. Nothing happened, but I could see the ghost icon. Before I could click the application icon, the ghost disappeared ... and so did the selected folder.
The selected folder was removed (not trashed) from the sparsebundle disk. It does not exist any longer. And it was not copied to the disk containing my application.
Has anyone noticed this behavior? And has anyone lost any files?
