Could you check that again? On my machine, the original script with my 2 minor changes (and NOT later changes made by others) is in fact reporting PowerPC applications in the Applications folder -- both those at the root level and those buried many subfolders deep. The report generated is not alphabetized by application name, so to be sure you have to search for "/Applications" and then step through them checking the path to make sure it is the user Applications folder and not /Developer/Applications or whatever. The report generated on my machine shows scores of applications in the Applications folder, and on random searches for specific applications none were missing.
I also discovered another way to locate all PowerPC applications, which I had not previously known. In the System Profiler application, choose Software > Applications in the left pane, then scroll the upper right pane sideways until the Type column is revealed, then click the Type column header to sort by Type. Scroll to where all the PowerPC apps are now grouped, and there they are. Click on any one, and the bottom right pane shows the path. Many of them are in the Applications folder on my machine, and when I search for a few of them at random in the report generated by the script, they're all present and accounted for. (It's sad to see the number of old games that won't work on Lion!)
