Robert,
I was planning on switching to TextWrangler but I can't find any rulers or tabs.
Are you talking about document tabs? If so, you're correct - it doesn't have tabs - it uses a "document drawer" instead. See below for their response. I, too, would prefer tabs, but you do get used to the drawer after awhile. However, if you're talking about tab characters, they're easily manipulated using the built-in grep feature.
Since you also mentioned rulers, it sounds like you want to format the look of the document. TW doesn't have any formatting tools. It's geared more for programmers and plain text documents. Their "Compare Documents" feature is second to none.
Looks like I was thinking along different lines. Sorry I don't have better news for you.
Marc

Response from Bare Bones about tabs:
TextWrangler's documents drawer is a means to manage open documents in a manner which scales better than Safari-like top tabs.
Please also note that TextWrangler offers other ways to navigate open documents as well:
* you can use View -> Previous Document and View -> Next Document (as well as their keyboard shortcuts)
* you can use the Document popup in the navigation bar (View -> Show Navigation Bar) to view & select open documents in a text window
(If you'd like, you can even bring up and navigate this popup from the keyboard; see "Open Files Menu" under the Navigation Bar item in the Menus prefs panel.) |
