Yes, that was essentially the same test I ran. Too bad, as it would be very handy to be able to select individual, and possibly discontiguous, pages in the Pages Panel, and get an list of object references to the associated pages. Would be a more compact (or at least alternative) interface for user input, compared to having to choose form a list or input text strings. Oh, well...
