But my diagnostic said "alias", so I am now confused as to why. Your'e right, 'make' does not return an alias and I've checked in other scripts and my usage is always ...

	set x to (make ...) as alias

I have apparently trashed the script with the diagnostic, so I guess I'll never know why I got "alias".
