You've helped me learn something, which is that parentheses enforce either an "order of precedence" (math) or an "order of interpretation" (command syntax), but will not resolve a reference, as 'get' does. As verification, I checked Matt's book (ASTDG, 2nd ed., pages 267-268, 190) and, sure enough, that's what it says.
