Hello Jim,

Looks like to be "AppleScript Runner.app" (in the System's CoreServices folder).

A graceful way, I don't know; assuming the application is currently running just because you ran one or more scripts from the script menu, this one shouldn't be too harmful:

	tell application "AppleScript Runner" to quit
