I'm on 10.6.5 and dictionaries are definitely searchable. Also, the AppleScript LanguageGuide.pdf, which I downloaded from Apple, is totally searchable in Preview.
The Repeat section begins on pg 199.

Alex,
I have to disagree with you. In the Finder dictionary, for example, a search (Find) for "open" yields NOTHING yet I can see it on the first line.
