I don't know what the excuse of the Smile team is, but I can tell you
what it is not.
The excuse is not that the Smile team prefers pleasant users.
You can be as unpleasant, as rude and uncivilized as you wish, you can
definitely forget about such words as "thanks" or "if you please":
this has no effect on the Smile team.
