Thanks Andre. I am willing to learn Cocoa if that is the way to go. Are you talking about the NSWorkspaceDidMountNotification. Does this notification work when an iPad/ iPod/ iPhone is plugged onto your mac. Once I get the notification which class will help me to enumerate the plugged in device.
Alternatively is there a way to get a notification in iTunes (writing a iTunes plugin that would receive notification from iSync or something on similar lines)

If you're willing to dabble in Cocoa, the NSWorkspace class has a notification center that lets you know when a device will be mounted or is mounted. I can go into more detail if this is the way you wish.

I am looking at writing an itunes plug-ins that will get notification when an

If not, what is the alternate path that I can take. I read about itunes device plug-ins and Apple Mobile Device service, but could not get to the solution. Please guide me if this is the wrong list to post this question.
