Running on a Swedish system this
tell application "Safari" localized string "Are you sure you want to close this window?" end tell
returns the correct Swedish string:
"Är du säker på att du vill stänga det här fönstret?"
in both Script Debugger and Script Editor, with no errors in either
Shane's example however gives the localized form only in Script Editor
