Once the Finder crashes, the symptom is that windows open as tiny images at various sizes. Looks like the Finder is trying to animate the opening of a window and is getting stuck at one image. This has nothing to do with the plist file that has been modified. The script I'm using quits the Finder before writing, then activates it after writing.

I need to run another test to confirm that the exact nature of this problem. Writing a plist file may or may not be the cause of the problem. Sometime this weekend I will install Lion on an unused partition and try to destroy it by running the script with the write-to-plist lines commented out.

Meanwhile ... I've installed the new Developer Tools (Install Xcode.app) and noticed that Property List Editor is missing.
