I'm not Stan but:

Range ("A1") refers to a cell

Range ("A1:A10") refers to several cells

Range ("A1: A10, B2, C3:C8, D2:F2, G3, H7:H12") refers to a non-contiguous range

Range("A:A") refers to an entire column

Range ("42:42") refers to an entire row

Note also that a range has properties of entire column, entire row and current region that may also be useful to you
