Finder "Hide Others"

I want to get everything except the frontmost window hidden.  That means quitting the Finder, hiding the current app's other windows, and hiding all other apps.  Accomplishing a "Hide Others" I can't figure out.

I can't find an UI scripting example to tell the Finder to Hide Others.

Also first tried to figure out how to this by starting off with a list of processes.  Unfortunately these two forms give pretty much the same results and each contains things I call 'background tasks' which never need to be told to Hide.

tell application "Finder" to name of every process
tell application "Finder" to name of every application process
