I'm trying to automate a simple reply all to a selected email from the inbox, but for some reason, I can't add content to the reply email.
The console seems to say that the content is being "set", but nothing appears in the generated email (just the old reply to content). Am I doing something wrong here?

Hey Emily,

The bottom line is that scripting support in Mail is peculiarly limited.

The only time you can make changes to a message via script is when you make a new outgoing message.  One the creation script terminates you cannot make any more changes.

It's truly pitiful.

We can't even get or set 'the selection'

You can't distinguish what kind of window is frontmost: Mail Viewer, Message, or Outgoing Message.

It should be possible to do: class of front window and get a proper answer.

Eudora had much better Applescript support a decade and a half ago.

I wish every Apple Mail user would get on Radar and complain.

Mail is a pretty good email client.  With real plugin support and better Applescript support it could be damn good.

Best Regards,
Chris
