Lost Ability to Record

I recently updated my OS from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8. Now when I try to record actions in AppleScript Editor, the script comes up empty. (I found this after discovering that I can no longer record scripts in BBEdit -- the scripts come out empty.)

I choose Start Recording, perform some actions, choose Stop Recording and there's nothing at all in it.

I don't know for certain that the OS update did this, but it seems a likely suspect.

Anyone?
