AppleScript and SOAP

Thread-topic: AppleScript and SOAP

I need to interact with an external MIS system which has a SOAP API. Everything I google about SOAP and AppleScript is from stuff published in the early 2000's.

My question is, what is the state of AppleScript and SOAP. Does it work? Does it support WSDLs? Or would some other scripting language be more appropriate?

Any first hand experience on the best approach for doing this in AS would be appreciated.
