Hi Jim,
There are some hicks on SOAP. I think it's only possible to consume SOAP 1 applications with simple objects like integers, strings and booleans. If you can customize the API with your own objects than everythings works rather fine but consuming an existing API can give problems because most of the time they pass around there own more complex objects.
On every Developer installation there's a Unix command WSMakeStubs
good luck!

Hello Jim,
I can only tell you that till Leopard SOAP was bad news and XML-RPC good. Since SL XML-RPC has been changed (updated) so maybe SOAP too but I'm not sure. I can only tell you that the bad stories about SOAP before SL are all true.

I need to interact with an external MIS system which has a SOAP API. Everything I google about SOAP and AppleScript is from stuff published in the early 2000's.
My question is, what is the state of AppleScript and SOAP. Does it work? Does it support WSDLs? Or would some other scripting language be more appropriate?
Any first hand experience on the best approach for doing this in AS would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Jim
