Or it might be much easier to craft a mail filter to send anything from him straight to Trash... Less bother. No fuss, no muss. And no need to hunt around for a moderator and ask that the perp be unsubbed... Just a thought.

Presumably, if you’re using gmail’s web interface, I don’t see how you can be thrashing this hard.

I’ve traded several emails with LinJim, but every one of them consists of only a quoted reply.  If I were a hardened cynic, I’d think he was just an autoreply bot, but there is evidence of someone attempting to communicate, albeit ineffectually.

I can’t imagine that there’s an internet filter removing his posts though, leaving his signature.  There must be something inadvertently malicious on his machine which is sending his messages immediately.  I have no idea what that could be though.
