set currentComputer to computer name of (system info)
set currentUser to system attribute "USER"

I find that using system attribute seems like the cleanest way to proceed to me, since it simply reads environment variables, well, at least compared to parsing the output of an external command (or the home folder path) while keeping your fingers crossed.  ;)

Hope this helps!

I am trying to retrieve the current machine name and user. Does anyone know the proper syntax to get that info.

Thanks in advance
