This I don't know. Is anything online available on that? I only found "Discovery of this remarkable device is generally credited to Serge Belleudy-d'Espinose." referring to script properties with "my" in Matt Neuburg's book.

Well, not quite, as far as I see. I don't own the book, but I don't see any reference to the interconnectedness I mentioned.
On page 383 (from Google) I find the sentence:
"I've been unable to arrive at a rule explaining what causes list access to be slow and when it isn't."
which at least gives a hint that more examination might be useful.
And
"However, all you need to know is that, in such cases, the tricks with reference-based or property-based access will speed it up."
on the same side doesn't hold in general, as my examples show.
