Hey Bruce,
No. Smile does not have the quick-search function that the Applescript Editor does, but its own 'find' function works perfectly well in its dictionary windows.

Bruce, on which OS does this happen?
Smile 3.6.0 (668) MacOS 10.6.8 Intel iMac 6,1
Hello Bruce,
I first tried this on Lion and had no problems with Smile.
Booted to an external drive running OS X 10.6.8 and had no problems there either.
