Yes it's ironic but also justified. Apple has expanded the ability of AS via
ASOC. Now that I'm using ASOC to great effectiveness, it's awesome!
But Apple simultaneously sends signals that AS (in general) is "less
important" because Xcode 4 doesn't support compiling till run (does it even
have a template project for ASOC?); ASOC documentation is non existant (from
Apple, props to you Shane for taking that project on), and Sandboxing is
clearly at conceptual odds with AS and ASOC. ASOC barely got any
introduction in Snow, there was not much "support" from Apple for it.
As a guy who codes for a corporation full time, stability or road maps do
matter somewhat. I don't need everything on a silver platter. I can deal
with things like incomplete documentation. But a few statements, formal
statements, to the effect of "we're not going to hang you out on a limb,
Applescript will get continuing support" would be nice.
