do shell script is the command to make a volatile terminal in Applescript.
So, instead of running, say, "cmd blah" in Terminal, you say, in AppleScript : do shell script "cmd blah".
There is - at least there used to be - a well documented page on the web about do shell script, you should find it easily, it tells you all about the odds and ends.
