- Thread-topic: Applescript launchers for UI events?
I've found lots of macro tools that can start Applescripts in lots of ways in response to keyboard commands, joystick actions, or even MIDI devices. However, I'm looking for a tool that can use UI events as triggers to start Applescripts.
The only one that I know of at the moment with this capability is UI Actions. UI Actions's triggers use too narrow of a scope, though. For example, you can't launch a script when a new window appears, but must instead watch for a window to appear in a specific program. UI Actions also lacks keyboard triggers.
QuicKeys, Keyboard Maestro, and others can run scripts periodically (even once per second), but constantly checking the UI isn't a good approach.
Do any other macro tools use UI events as triggers? Note that I'm not talking about application launch/quit, but am instead talking about notifications (via the accessibility APIs) that UI elements have been created, destroyed, or modified. I'd appreciate hearing about any new trails to investigate.
Bryan
