The use of display dialog proposed by others is fine when the list is not too long;
If it may be long, you will not see every items and the buttons will be out of the screen;

My best choice would be :

choose from list myList with empty selection allowed

This way you would be able to scroll in the long list and to close the dialog clicking in the OK button.
