Someday operating systems will have to accept the fact that 86400 is not always the number of seconds in a day. Atomic clocks are now the standard of the world and they are much more constant than motions of planet Earth. Twice a year we can have days of 86401 or even a few seconds more or less. The leap seconds are declared as needed, usually at least a month in advance, as astronomical observations compare Earth with atoms.
One can hope that AppleScript will still be around. It's about the only thing I miss on my Linux box.
