That's an extremely helpful bit of code. I've added it to my SD5 script menu and will make good use of it. Thanks for sharing it!

Ironically, the script works incorrectly when its target is itself—it selects line 9 if the selection is beyond line 9. But that's a special case that won't occur in the real world.  :-)
