HFS Path by Reference

  • Subject: HFS Path by Reference

Hey Folks,

When I assemble (non-temporary) scripts that reference files I always try to reference the file from a known location like so (for greater portability):

set _file to alias ("" & (path to scripts folder) & "Applications:Safari:Temp_Safari.scpt")

Today I wondered why I've been doing this by hand for so long, and I wrote a script to automate the process.

It's still rough, and the code that handles from user domain is not well tested - but it's working so far.

If anyone has done this better or has ideas for improving the process I'm interested.
