That's why.
During my numerous years of practice, I have written five (or more) consecutive instructions with no explicit variables but I never prove to be fool enough to do this odd thing. I use this kind of syntax because from my point of view it's more legible than a long one concatenating the short ones.
Here, I would code :
(path to desktop as text) & "get archives AppleScript - stripped.scpt" set sourcePath to quoted form of POSIX path of result display dialog result
